Strawberry Chia Smoothie

strawberry-chia-smoothie

We LOVE strawberry season! On its own, in desserts, on toast, in a fruit bowl, and obviously in smoothies. Strawberries are high in vitamin C, and this smoothie recipe actually gives you your full dose of Vitamin C for the day!

Chia seeds have become incredibly popular as they’re high in antioxidants, fibre, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. For that reason chia is really an ingredient you want to keep in your kitchen and add to a smoothie on a regular basis.

The Chia pudding that we’re using in this smoothie creates the same creamy texture like banana and avocado does, so it’s worth the prep of the pudding before blending this power house. Leave the chia to soak the night before, for a quick and easy on the run breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Chia
  • ½ C Soy Milk
  • ½ C Orange Juice (2 oranges, freshly squeezed)
  • 1 C Strawberries (frozen if not in season)
  •

Optional: Add a teaspoon honey, or ½ teaspoon vanilla for more sweetness, or add a few mint leaves for freshness.

    Directions:

Mix the chia in soy milk, and leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight. This will create a jelly texture, and really makes a difference for a creamy smoothie.

Add the chia pudding with the orange juice and strawberries to your OmniBlend jug, and blend starting on low, increasing to high speed, for 30 seconds (or a bit longer if you’re using frozen strawberries).

We served it with the straight Stream smoothie straw.
