Blueberry Basil Smoothie Recipe

blueberry-basil-smoothie

Since we’ve been growing basil in our garden, we’ve been looking to add basil to a host of dishes and drinks. One of our favourite pairings is with blueberry, both delicate flavours, and the basil lifts the otherwise sweet smoothie up.

For our smoothies we’re using the frozen blueberries from EuroBerry, which you can buy directly from their factory shops in Johannesburg, Somerset West, and Durban.

Bananas can be kept in the freezer, so as soon as they’re ripe, we store them in the freezer for use later. Just peel and half them, and store in an empty ice cream container.

Now back to the recipe, which is simple and easy to make for breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • ½ C frozen blueberries
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 1/3 C plain yoghurt
  • ½ C milk
  • 4-5 basil leaves
  •

    Directions:

Add all ingredients to the OmniBlend jug, and start blending on Low, increasing to High. Blend for 30-40 seconds, until smooth. Or use the 35 seconds program on the OmniBlend V.

    Enjoy!
