Dark Chocolate Green Smoothie

We recently started having our ‘office smoothies’, basically a way to treat ourselves to some indulgence, and to try and test some recipes at the same time! Our intern suggested it and kicked it off with some seriously nice and fruity smoothies. It’s awesome when someone’s joining the team, and comes up with great ideas!

After the first few tropical sweet flavoured smoothies, we decided to bring some veggies in, and so we had our first green smoothie. That is: a dark chocolate brown ‘green’ smoothie! This green smoothie tastes more like a decadent chocolate creamy drink than a veggie smoothie, and therefore makes for a great introduction to green smoothies. Pretty sure kids will love it too, they won’t even notice there’s spinach in it.

Apart from the chocolate flavour that it creates, the cacao powder adds antioxidants and minerals, without adding sugars and fat that chocolate or chocolate syrups would. The flaxseed powder adds Omega 3 fats and minerals, and the spinach and berries add vitamin A and C. Overall a powerhouse, this smoothie!

Ingredients:

  • 1 mango, peeled & pitted
  • 2 cups frozen spinach
  • 1 cup frozen black currants
  • 1.5 cup unsweetened soy milk
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp flaxseed powder
  • 1 tsp raw honey

Add some cold water if you prefer it more liquid

Directions:

Add all ingredients to the jug of your OmniBlend. Blend on low, increasing to medium, until smooth. We kept it quite thick, however you can add some cold water to make it thinner.

That’s half your fruit & veg intake done for the day!
