Did you know that bananas can cheer you up? Bananas are the only fruit to contain the amino acid, tryptophan plus Vitamin B6, which together help the body produce serotonin: the natural chemical which alleviates mental depression. Now don't we all want to balance our mood? So we created this amazing Banana Mango Blast, and tested.
We're quite lucky to have a fruit stall right across our offices, so our intern went and bought some fruit, and we gave this recipe a try. We put the bananas in the freezer for an hour to cool down the smoothie, and give it a creamy texture.
Peel the bananas and keep it in the freezer (optional). Prepare the mango and pear (you don't have to peel the pear, just core it).
For any smoothie, it's important to first add the toughest ingredients to blend. In this case that would be the ice cubes. After the ice cubes you can add the bananas, pear and the mango. Blend it for 60 seconds on high speed. While blending, add the orange juice.
Our verdict? It's an absolute treat! If not for the benefits of the serotonin, the flavour will already cheer you up!
